Children's Day Earth Day Halloween/Samhain Christmas/Yule Easter/Ostara Beltaine/Summer Solstice

Event Description

Our workshops draw from a foundation of academic research and historical context, informed by studies in archaeology and folklore studies. We reference primary sources like ancient myths or historical records to provide an authentic understanding of the cultural traditions surrounding festivals like Samhain, Yule, Ostara, and Beltaine. We aim to foster curiosity about the whole tapestry of ancient cultures in a way that is secular, imaginative, and rooted in educational enrichment, offering children a safe space to explore creativity, nature, and history. Ancient festivals offer a fantastic educational opportunity to explore traditions from which we originate. Through myths, art, or history of the Celts or the Slavs, we will learn to experience nature deeply, treating it with reverence and wonder! In our workshops, children get to playfully step into the roles of druids, gods, and mythical heroes—but purely as part of fantasy, storytelling, and archetypal exploration. This is about immersing in the richness of classic myths and historical figures much like one would play characters from ancient stories or fairytales. Imagining oneself as a druid or god is a wonderful way to explore timeless archetypes that symbolize universal themes, like bravery, wisdom, and kindness. This approach makes for an engaging, fun experience, helping children connect with history in a lively way while also fostering creativity, empathy, and self-expression. It’s a playful, imaginative activity that emphasizes role-playing as a form of learning and connection with past cultures, without any religious or ritualistic intent.
